About

Michael Gravante is an actor, director, and theatre artist based in eastern Massachusetts. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts from Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts, where he graduated summa cum laude. He has been active in the theatre for over a decade.

Michael has performed in musicals and plays since elementary school, adding Shakespeare to his repertoire in high school. At Merrimack, he experimented with different staging techniques (theatre-in-the-round, black box); types of theatre (verbatim theatre, performance art, playback theatre); and various roles beyond performance, such as sound design, ushering/ticket managing, and directing. For his senior project, he directed a production of Annie Baker's comedy-drama Circle Mirror Transformation.

Michael was also very involved in student leadership within Merrimack's theatre organizations. In his junior year, he served as the Secretary for the OnStagers Dramatic Society, Merrimack's oldest club and fully student-run theatre organization, where in addition to his many duties, he assisted in the production process of two shows. He was also one of the inaugural members of the MackBelievers Improv Club, and served as its Vice President for two consecutive years. His tenure with the MackBelievers ended with the college giving the group the L.E.A.D. Award for Outstanding Arts Organization of the Year in 2023.

Michael resides in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, and is happily starting his career as a performer and director in the Greater Boston/eastern MA area. One of his ultimate goals is to work for a theatre company for a full-time creative position. Being a person on the autism spectrum, he advocates for accessibility, inclusiveness, and kindness wherever he performs and works. He is always willing to learn and grow, and he wants to do as much theatre as he can while sharing his love and passion for the arts with everyone he meets!
